About

Fellow Bloggers,

I am a native of CO 6 generations deep. My forebears came shortly after fighting for the North in the Civil War when CO was a territory and the First American tribe, The Arapahoe, still roamed the Eastern Plains. I have an undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry, a graduate degree in Political Science/History and worked on a PhD in American Studies at the U of CO, Boulder.

My wife and I live in Northern CO and have three grown children.   All three hold degrees from the U of IL. We have seven grandchildren.   My interest in history and politics is lifelong. I have edited college newsletters, write editorial comment, speeches for our statesman in IL and here in CO, and for nearly 25 years have written nationally for the United Methodist Church of which we are members.

Like most Americans, parents and grandparents I am much concerned about the state of the nation. Charles Krauthammer, one of the truly bright lights in our land and gifted essayist, wrote in the October 19, 2009 issue of, The Weekly Standard an 8 page piece entitled “Decline Is A Choice.” He chastises the Obama Administration for indicting our land and helping end our ascendancy. But he offers hope and quotes Demosthenes in closing. Demosthenes is asked how they can stop the decline of Athens. His reply? “I will give what I believe is the . . . truest answer: Don’t do what you are doing now.” With this in mind and to be part of stopping what we are doing now, I respectfully will be blogging under the title RedRocksRight for the sake of our children, grandchildren and a generation yet unborn.

The name I have selected is Eutychus. I studied Greek 35 years ago and Eutychus is a Greek name meaning fortunate. I feel fortunate to write a blog, and it will be fortunate if we can elect sensible conservative leaders who realize that “American Ascendancy is also a Choice.”

Dear God, may it be so.

Having read this I thought it was rather informative. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this information together. I once again find myself spending way too much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worthwhile!
